5 Ways to Balance your Sacral Chakra (Svadhishthana)

Our Sacral Chakra is our second energy center located around our pelvic region. It is orange and color and serves as the hub for our creative energy, malleability, sexuality and ease. ⁣
⁣
If our Root Chakra reminds us we’re alive, our Sacral Chakra reminds us that the human experience is a beautiful one — one to be enjoyed, treasured and loved. ⁣
⁣
When it is over/under active we may experience creative blocks (ex. Writer’s block), lack of focus, sexual dysfunction/excessive sexual energy, trust-issues and anxiety. ⁣
⁣
When our Sacral Chakra is balanced we feel calm, relaxed and in alignment. We feel like we’re flowing with life instead of crashing against it, and find ease in our creative projects, relationships with others and relationship with ourself. ⁣
⁣
Here are 5 ways to balance your Sacral Chakra: ⁣
⁣
1. HIP-OPENERS ⁠— Hip-opening yoga postures are beautiful ways to balance your sacral chakra, as it is one of your emotional centers in your body. Yoga poses such as supine pigeon, 1/2 pigeon, king pigeon, 3-legged dog with an open hip and warrior I, among others are a great way to start. Even your basic "criss-cross applesauce" pose from elementary school is a great way to open your hips.⁣

2. DANCE — Put on your favorite music and dance! Dancing, especially swaying your hips, helps balance your sacral chakra by releasing tension in the hip-area, and in general. In life we get so caught up in in our routines, rigid timelines and to do lists, that we forget in order to manifest our desires; life-force needs to FLOW THROUGH us. Allow energy to flow through you as you dance.⁣

3.MEDITATION — Meditation is a key tool to balancing all of your chakras, but especially for the sacral chakra it is vital to allow your body to relax and to allow your natural energy to flow through you. Using crystals such as cornelian, orange citrine, moonstone and tiger's eye can enhance your meditation. Sit in a cross-legged seat with your eyes close and repeat the words "I flow through life" or "Creativity flows through me." Allow the words to flow throughout your frame.

4.GET CREATIVE — Get creative! Paint, draw, write poetry, journal, make music, sing, dance, sculpt, design. GET CREATIVE! Remember, life is NOT just about making money! It's not just about surviving! It's about doing the things you love, the things that add a jump to your step, lightness in your heart and a smile from your face.

5.GIVE YOURSELF SOME SELF LOVE— Dedicate some time each day, or at least each week for self love. "Self love" or "self care" activities such as splurging on a meal or buying a nice lotion or getting a manicure/massage is a privilege many world-wide will never have access to. So, if you are able to splurge a little on self-care, DO IT! Something we can all do is be nice to ourselves. Repeat positive affirmations such as "I am light," "I am life," or "I am powerful," or "I am peaceful," can help you tune your sacral chakra.
