Jess is a writer and photographer located in San Diego, California originally from Upstate, New York.
When Jess first went to college she wanted to be a doctor, but she says the universe had other plans for her.
As a second semester freshman at Adelphi University, Jess was approached by the managing editor of the Odyssey Online. He wanted to create a chapter of the (at the time) online news platform and needed an Editor in Chief. He told her she had one week to recruit 30 writers and publish an issue.
Having absolutely zero experience in journalism, she said she'd do it.
Jess has been working as a journalist for the past two years now, writing features, news stories and theater/music reviews for publications such as the Long Island Press, Albany Times Union, San Diego Uptown News, San Diego Downtown News and Mission Times Courier among others.
Jess is currently working towards a bachelors degree in media studies at San Diego State University (SDSU) and crafting her podcast, Ultraviolet Thoughts.
In her free time Jess enjoys practicing yoga and is currently earning her certification to teach as a student of the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program at Honey Yoga in San Diego. She also enjoys reading about spirituality and philosophy, writing poetry and running. Additionally, Jess is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) and Delta Gamma Fraternity.
